Mrs Lena Anderton of Farish House Flats in Keighley, aged 88 years passed away in October 2004 whilst in hospital. Lena was a weaver by trade and was a member of the Keighley Social Centre for a number of years. Lena was sight impaired and was very hard of hearing and valued her privacy so it came as a unexpected surprise when Lena left sight airedale it’s largest legacy ever in April 2005. The Board of Directors and General Committee have decided to use the legacy in the following ways:-·
Improvements to the Charities Properties
- A major refurbishment of our Social Centre in Scott Street, Keighley including improvements to the lobby and WC area, kitchen, furniture and furnishings. The Centre to be renamed The Lena Anderton Meeting Room. (Completed April 2007)·
- Improvements to the access around the Social Centre (Completed September 2006)·
- Access improvements to the entrance at the Charity owned bungalow in Oakworth (Completed December 2005)·
- Other projects: Upgrade our computer equipment. Previous upgrade was in 2002 using grants from Central Government and provide free computer training. (Completed October 2005)
